I just finished a new project over at Rain City Audio – 1950 Crosley 10-139 Vintage Radio Repair

This classic 1950s All American Five, the Crosley 10-139 just came through the shop. It was an estate sale find that had some damage from careless handling, but despite a rough past it fixed up nicely and will do a great job bringing in the Mariners games and oldie’s radio for many years to come.

1958 Sony TR-610 Transistor Radio Repair

I just finished a new project over at Rain City Audio – 1958 Sony TR-610 Transistor Radio Repair

This Sony TR-610 came through the shop to have its electrolytic capacitors replaced. It was a quick service and this iconic 1958 transistor radio came back to life just in time, only having missed a few Mariners games! With up-rated replacement capacitors and a new battery, it will last for a very long time.

1934 Weston Capacity Meter Model 664 Repair

Here’s another project I just finished at Rain City Audio:

This 1934 Weston Capacity Meter/AC Voltmeter was used to measure capacitors and the output of transformers for experimentation and troubleshooting. It only needed a good cleaning and one component replaced to fire right up and make some measurements. Continue reading →

An example of the 1939 RCA Model 119 radio made its way through my shop recently. I like RCA’s engineering – they were pioneers of radio and even their entry level models like this set had great performance. The styling is classic mid ’30s, too – great in almost any home….

Oregon Electronic Model A3 Variable Voltage Regulated Power Supply

Here’s another project I just finished at Rain City Audio:

This vacuum tube power supply from an engineer’s test bench can replace a radio or test circuit’s power supply to help with troubleshooting or experiments, with up to 400V for B+ and 6.3V 5A for the heaters. It needed some new capacitors, then fired right up and works perfectly! Continue reading →
