1930s Vintage Detrola 335 Radio Repair
Repairing this Detrola 335 was a major detective project with only a partial schematic after it was hacked on was a major project, but this radio cleaned up nicely and came back to life after tracking down all the faults, including replaced components, undocumented modifications, and a failed thermal switch. After adding an eye tube per the owner’s request, this fantastic art deco style tabletop radio is going to play beautiful music for many years to come. This radio repair is cross-posted from Rain City Audio
This classic 1959 Zenith C845M radio came into the shop for a full repair after sitting unused for some time. It has the classic late ’50s styling, and a dual speaker high-fidelity design.

It’s an 8-tube radio with a 35C5 output tube good for maybe 3W of maximum output, but it has great sound quality.
Inside, it’ Continue reading
1936 Zenith 5-S-29 Electrical Restoration and Alignment
This 1936 Zenith 5-S-29 was in the shop for a complete overhaul with all new resistors and capacitors, a new dial lamp socket, tube testing and alignment. After all that service, it looks and sounds fantastic and is going to last for a long time to come in a local collection.

1937 Detrola 139E Vintage Radio Repair
I just finished a new project over at Rain City Audio – 1937 Detrola 139E Vintage Radio Repair
This Detrola 139E chassis was on my bench recently while the cabinet was being refinished. It’s a striking 1937 radio with an art deco stationized dial with a very large tuning area, and even though it only has 5 radio tubes, it’s a great performer. I replaced the rectifier tube and rebuilt the electronics of the radio followed by testing and an alignment; now it’s very selective and will be a safe and reliable appliance for someone’s home.

I just finished a new project over at Rain City Audio – 1939 Airline 93WG-1001 by Montgomery Ward’s Radio Repair
I recently got to work on this fantastic radio from 1939, the Montgomery Ward’s Airline 93WG-1001. Made by Wells-Gardner for Montgomery Ward, this 10-tube radio featured a tuned RF amplifier stage, push-pull 6V6 output and a very interesting drum dial.
This radio had been serviced at one…

1934 RCA Victor 119 Antique Radio Repair
I just finished a new project over at Rain City Audio – 1934 RCA Victor 119 Antique Radio Repair
An example of the 1939 RCA Model 119 radio made its way through my shop recently. I like RCA’s engineering – they were pioneers of radio and even their entry level models like this set had great performance. The styling is classic mid ’30s, too – great in almost any home….
