Satellite TV in 1981

I used to be a satellite hobbyist, with a few large motorized dishes that pointed at various FTA satellites receiving free music and international TV channels. It’s always been my ambition to have one of these large dishes in my back yard, as they have such a wider range of signals and programming they can receive at once. I found this ad from the ’80s to be fairly entertaining:

Somewhere along the line, people decided that visible symbols of technological progress weren’t attractive enough to be worth looking at. I rather like satellite dishes even from an aesthetic perspective.
